<div>Our loved friend Maria, a hardworking, kind-hearted woman, was recently detained by ICE just minutes from her home. She has lived in the United States of America for over 20 years, the majority of her life, and was protected under DACA for many of those years. She lived life as a normal American, completing school from kindergarten to graduating high school. At the age of 16, Maria was employed at her very first job, and has continued working there and another serving job up until her detainment. Like every American, Maria was also a taxpayer who gave her working money back to the government just like everyone else. She's someone who juggles two jobs, pays her dues, shows up for her family, and is always there for her friends - a true example of living the average American life.

<div>Maria being taken like this has torn many people's hearts and I pray that no one knows this feeling of loss. She doesn't deserve this. Now we are doing everything we can to fight for her release, but legal costs, bond, and support for her daily needs are more than what we can handle alone.

<div>Nuestra querida amiga María, una mujer trabajadora y de gran corazón, fue detenida recientemente por ICE a solo unos minutos de su hogar. Ha vivido en Estados Unidos por más de 20 años, la mayor parte de su vida, y estuvo protegida bajo DACA durante muchos de esos años. Vivió como una ciudadana más: estudió desde kínder hasta graduarse de la preparatoria. A los 16 años consiguió su primer trabajo en Mama Roja, y ha trabajado ahí y en otro empleo como mesera hasta el momento de su detención. Como cualquier estadounidense, María también pagaba sus impuestos, contribuyendo con su esfuerzo al país. Es una persona que mantiene dos trabajos, cumple con sus responsabilidades, apoya a su familia y siempre está presente para sus amistades – un verdadero ejemplo de una vida americana.
