<div>Kim's health journey began in 2018 when, thanks to the insistence of her dear friend and colleague "Mama Rita" Lubbers, she sought medical attention for unusual symptoms. An early diagnosis of kidney cancer led to a successful ablation treatment, and Kim made a remarkable recovery.

<div>Just a year later, Kim faced another challenge: an atrial fibrillation (A-fib) diagnosis. After multiple shocks and a heart ablation, her heart rhythm stabilized.

<div>In pursuit of a life together, Kim and her husband Jerod sold their Iowa home in 2021. However, their travel plans were soon derailed when Kim was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, including lymph node involvement, in May 2022. Despite Jerod's ongoing work-related travel, Kim bravely drove herself to every chemotherapy and radiation appointment, ultimately triumphing over cancer.

<div>Following surgery for a hiatal hernia and acid reflux in August 2024, Kim thought she'd finally found relief. But fate had another test in store: a brain tumor diagnosis. Kim's response? "WTF, can I ever catch a break?"
