Last year, my dear friend Cher experienced the unimaginable: the loss of her daughter. Since then, she’s been doing everything she can to survive: working multiple jobs, keeping a roof over her head, and trying to move forward without ever truly having the time or space to grieve.

She’s the kind of person who never asks for anything; she gives everything she has to everyone else. She is one of the kindest, hard working, most selfless people I’ve ever known. But right now, she needs help.

Her mental and physical health have taken a serious toll. She’s uninsured and struggling to access care, experiencing some scary symptoms because of the toll of all this, among other stresses. She’s missed work just to stay afloat emotionally, and now the bills are piling up. On top of it all, she’s commuting 1.5 hours each way to her new job, which is financially and emotionally draining, and her lease doesn’t end until December. We’re trying to get her out of it without penalties, but the situation is overwhelming.

She recently had to leave another job because the environment was toxic, which only added to the financial stress. She’s doing everything right: trying to get therapy, trying to hold on, but the stress is crushing her and I am afraid for her physical health as well.

Giving her room to breathe and focus on healing, not just survival, and not having to worry about bills piling up while doing so.
