My grandfather, Samuel Martinez, is 85 years old. A kind, strong, and humble man who has faced more battles than most people will in a lifetime.

He has survived cancer twice. Once in the prostate, and again in the colon. Just recently, he was hospitalized for two long weeks with pneumonia, and though he’s now home, his recovery is slow and fragile. Doctors have also discovered nodules throughout his throat, chest, and lungs, and he needs ongoing medical care, proper nutrition, and assistance to stay safe and strong at home.

In just the last two weeks since coming home, he’s already had to return to the doctor three times. His condition is unstable, and he needs close follow-up care to avoid another emergency. He has also fallen twice, which has raised serious concerns for his safety. His house is not adapted for his physical condition.

Despite everything he’s been through—cancer, pneumonia, chronic pain, and physical limitations—he remains faithful and continues to believe deeply in God. His strength, even now, is rooted in prayer and hope, and he inspires everyone around him to keep going, no matter how hard things get.

On top of all this, the home is starting to develop mold, which is extremely dangerous for someone with lung issues and a weakened immune system. This makes it urgent for us to make his environment clean, safe, and healthy so he can continue healing.

Why We’re Asking for Support:

• His home needs urgent safety upgrades (like grab bars, non-slip flooring, bathroom accessibility, etc.)

• We must address the mold issue before it worsens his breathing and recovery

• He needs nutritious food, physical therapy, and in-home assistance

• As a family, we’re doing all we can but his needs are beyond our current means
