Stand with Batte Urgessa’s Family

As you are aware, Obbo Batte Urgessa, a prominent freedom fighter, human rights advocate, astute political figure, and a vocal proponent of the Oromo's political and socio-economic goals, was tragically murdered for simply exercising his right to free speech and sharing his independent political opinions. The Oromo nation mourns the loss of a unique and courageous son who valiantly championed our cause until his final moments. More tragically, his family has lost their sole provider. His wife and four children, who currently reside in a rented home, face the imminent threat of homelessness without the means to pay their rent. In a country where they lack a support network, they are now turning to the Oromo Diaspora for assistance.

On behalf of Obbo Batte’s bereaved family, the Macha Tulama Association, in conjunction with various Oromo civic organizations and volunteers, respectfully calls upon your generosity to support his widow and children, who have been deprived of a devoted father by a politically motivated, heinous act.
