<div>My name is Austin. A background on what happened for those of you that don’t know: I was playing basketball like I always do and felt tightness and sharp pains in my chest, which caused me to not be able to breathe correctly. So, I was rushed to the hospital, and they told me it was a good thing I came in because I had a heart attack. Knowing me, I don’t go to the doctors at all, but the pain was unbearable, so I did, and good thing I did. On September 26th, <strong>I will be undergoing open-heart bypass surgery after recently surviving a heart attack.</strong>

<div>I’ve been working since I was 16 years old, and I’ve always taken pride in being a hard worker and provider for my family. I’ve never been the type to ask for help—I’ve always pushed through, no matter what. When I tore my Achilles, I worked through the pain and healed while still showing up every day. When I was diagnosed with glaucoma at the age of 11, I kept pushing. I was told I would be blind by 40 at the age of 11. I’m 28 now. I even declined short-term and long-term disability benefits because I’ve always been pretty healthy and never thought I’d need them.

<div>But right now, <strong>I need help more than ever.</strong>

<div>I’ve already been out of work for two months since my heart attack, and after surgery, I’ll be recovering for at least three more months. This unexpected medical journey has left me and my family in a difficult spot financially. My focus needs to be on healing and getting strong again, but the weight of bills and responsibilities doesn’t stop.

<div>I’ve always believed in hard work, faith, and resilience—and I’m determined to come back from this stronger than ever. But I can’t do it alone. Some days are good, and some days my faith is tested.
