Stand up to hate play date
Hello,
My name is Ferrai Pickett, mom and organizer of the annual Stand up to Hate Playdate. Due to to the pandemic, we were unable to get together last year. However, it only motivated me to put on an even better event this year. On October 16 we are holding our Fourth Annual Stand Up to Hate Playdate, and we’d love for you to join us.
Our goal is to provide recourses to adults and children that will help to add diversity to their lives with multiple stations set up throughout the park. There will be a children’s table with books that educate and depict people from all communities: i.e. LGBTQ+, Black, AAPI, Hispanic, Indigenous, etc. There will be a table for families to learn about different foods from different cultures, how to educate and introduce different foods into their families lives, and how to teach children to be kind and respectful when it comes to food allergies. We will also have a yoga instructor at the event to help families learn how to tap into their emotions and learn how to manage them through movement.
The message of this Playdate is to educate as many families as possible to bring hope for a better tomorrow. The children are our future and I want to do all that I can to ensure we are properly raising a better generation.
