Stand by the Tremblays

We would like to introduce our beloved friend, Dan Tremblay and ask for help on behalf of him and his family of Maple Ridge. Dan has recently been in-and-out of the hospital for an undiagnosed illness that has withheld him from work and consequentially his ability to support his family in the way he desires. The Tremblays need the help of community now as Dan is not able to produce income or receive insurance coverage until his illness is officially diagnosed.

Dan and his wife, Wendy, first noticed symptoms of his illness on November 4th, 2017 as he returned from a business trip and experienced headaches accompanied with dizziness and confusion so severe that he was not able to recognize his family. The family acted immediately, worried of a stroke, they admitted Dan to the hospital. He spent most of November and half of December in the hospital as they failed to find diagnosis and the symptoms of his illness are reoccurring. With very little work since October, finances depleted fast as they diligently funded their mortgage and necessities required of the household of two children (still living at home). Even to the extent of three MRIs, six CT scans, four lumbar taps, and one bone marrow biopsy, there is still no known diagnosis to Dan’s illness. Yet, the Tremblays are hopeful as they expect to admit Dan to the UBC hospital, which has been known to diagnose similar illnesses in the past, for further treatment and testing.

Much in part to Dan’s personality, this is a family of zeal, ambition, and massive generosity. Many can attest to the Tremblays' success in their ability to care for friends and family whenever there is need. Our family’s relationship with the Tremblays has grown deep as they have handed over their time, energy and resources without hesitation in times of turmoil. During the early passing of a loved one and a hospitalizing injury, the Tremblays have stuck out among friends as they enveloped our family with love and support. Banding together as family, the Tremblays spoke words of encouragement and brought joy with their generosity that knew no bounds. Knowing this family and their struggle causes us no choice but to do all we can to show the same support in getting them on their feet again. We know that together we will be able to raise enough funding to support the living and medical expenses required of the Tremblays during the, hopefully, short time where Dan is not able to work or receive coverage for these expenses.

The Tremblays have done everything in their power to reduce their expenses to avoid losing their house including liquidating household items on Craigslist, and suspending truck and business insurance.

Wendy’s long-term health issues coupled with Dan’s inability to be left for a long period of time make it impossible for Wendy to go back to work to increase their monthly income. The goal set reflects the Tremblays' minimum monthly expenses being $4600.00, (including mortgage, insurance, food, etc.) subtracted from their monthly income of $600.00 (from Wendy’s prior disability benefits) which equals a need of $4000.00 per month. The doctor’s have expected Dan to be withheld from his work for a minimum of six months and this establishes our goal at $24,000.00 to be able to support the Tremblays as they find a diagnosis for Dan and get back on their feet.

We trust that by doing the little we can, we will be successful in raising the money required to give Dan, Wendy and the family the opportunity to remain in their home and see Dan make a full recovery.
