Last week we found out that my mom, whom I love with my whole heart was diagnosed with gastric (stomach) cancer, which at this time has spread to her distal esophagus and duodenum (small intestine). We are waiting for a PET scan at this time. My mom found out biopsy results of her endoscopy 3 days after arriving to Pennsylvania from Mississippi to meet her first granddaughter born 12/30/17. Anyone that has met my mom knows she has a heart of gold. Ever since I was a little girl, I have watched her closely. She is a person that drops off money in an envelope on peoples’ porches that cannot pay their bills that month, in secret so she doesn’t get recognition or praise for herself. She has dropped groceries on peoples’ porches that could not afford groceries that week. She is the first person to step up to help anyone in need. When growing up in California, she would take us to downtown San Francisco and she taught us to feed the homeless and buy them clothes and love them. She would invite them into our home to feed them, pray for them and love them. She has a complete heart of gold. During the holidays, she is always one to cook and bake and bring food around to people working that day. She loves people so deeply and cares for people so much. We are going to fight this cancer with everything we have-and we are maintaining a positive outlook. I ask that you all please surround her with love and joy and happiness. Please continue to visit her, call her, text her. She does not want to be alienated. Don’t be afraid of what to say or do-just be yourself-she just wants your friendship and love. My mom Is one of the bravest people I have ever met-a Marine Corps veteran-and she deserves the absolute best. She wants to have fun and enjoy people‘s company. I ask that you pray for her complete healing. Pray for us as we go on this journey of treatment. Pray for Autumn and I, on our maternity leave, as we will be traveling the rest of my maternity leave to be by my mother’s side for her treatment and encouragement. Our family loves her dearly and deeply, and we thank you so much for your prayer and encouragement at this time. Love you momma, you have this. God has you in His hands. He deeply loves you.
