Stand by Matthew during his fight with Cancer
Matthew turned five months old on December 20th, 2024. That same afternoon after having bloodwork done, his parents were told that he had Leukemia and that he would have to be admitted that evening to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. During that weekend he underwent lots of testing including a bone marrow biopsy where they gave him a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). AML is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow, which causes large amounts of abnormal white blood cells to grow uncontrollably.
Matthew ended up spending his first Christmas with his parents at Yale, awaiting his extensive round of chemo treatments which would last for ten days with a month of recovery. He finished his first round of chemo and will need at least 4 more treatments.
They are unsure if he will be able to go home in between rounds, which will require a long term stay at the hospital.
This is a very sensitive time for the entire family & they sincerely appreciate all the support and prayers as well as respecting their privacy. However, with Matthew being just a baby, he will NEED BOTH of his parents by his side during the next few months of treatment which will require A LOT of time off from work.
Matthew has big, bright blue eyes and the sweetest, most infectious smile that fills any room he's in with joy. He is a calm and content baby, especially when cuddled close, but he will use his voice to let you know when he wants something. He loves to babble when talked to and loves to munch on his teething toys.
If you can and are able to step in and please help ease some of their financial burdens, it would be so wonderfully appreciated so that when they are through with all the treatments they can bring Matthew home. If you're unable to donate, your thoughts and prayers are just as much appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read Matthew's story. Your generosity and kindness brings hope and strength to our family during this incredibly challenging time. Together, we can help Matthew overcome this battle and look forward to bringing him home.
