As a rescuer I have had the pleasure of meeting many people that have helped and guided me, one of those individuals is Mari. Working in multiple vet offices, spay and neuter clinics and always stepping up for the community, Mari has been a dedicated and valuable member of of the Miami rescue community. Because of her, animals have gotten medical help that would not have been possible otherwise and many of us rescuers have learned things that have helped many animals and people with her teachings.
Recently while traveling to her birth home of Puerto Rico, Mari had a horrible thing happen. Her wife Alex suddenly collapsed and had a major medical emergency. She was rushed to the ER and it was found that she had Cerebral Venous Thrombosis. Their life suddenly went from visit family for Christmas, to almost losing Alex, and now having to deal with the aftermath. Alex has not been able to work, leaving Mari to make up for the financial loss. Alex has had ocular issues since the stroke and her deductible to the specialist are insanely high and she can’t be treated will it’s paid. And although they had hoped this would be a short time of recovery, it has now been two months and these wonderful ladies need help.
all funds will go directly to medical bill and helping with the financial strain this has left on their family.
the community has always been able to depend on amazing vet techs like Mari and I’m really hoping we can step in and help her and Alex when they need us most.
