Back in Oct 2024 our world changed in just a matter of days. As most of you know Legend was dx with stage 4 mix germ cell cancer it was out of no where. One day he was perfectly fine and the next day he was doubled over in pain so we took him to an urgent care where we thought maybe he pulled something or possibly even broke something but the next thing we know, we was sent from an urgent care to our local hospital (Bar H) where they completed multiple test and was unable to give us answer. The next thing we know we was being told our son was getting transported out to another facility where they could do more testing and had on board pediatric care. That night once we arrived at CAMC women’s and children’s they ran tons of more testing and the provider on call that night said I’m 99% sure it’s cancer. Not sure what kind but it’s there, the following day he was taking into to have a big operation and they took out a massive tumor. Once that was done and some other scans the oncologist come into tell us the words no parent wants to hear “ your child has cancer and it’s stage 4, and has spread into both lungs. After what seemed like a life time we finally we received the pathology report to confirm what type of cancer it was and how they was going to treat it. One month later he was back into surgery getting a port placed 2 days after that they started chemo. He would have to spend multiple times though out some months inpatient and outpaint chemo treatments. Once his chemo rounds were completed he had to be scanned again to see if the chemo worked. March he was scanned and we received news that he still had tumors that would need to be removed and the places they were at is very risky. We as. Family opted to come to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for a second opinion. Once we got a appointment we came and met with a new oncologist and surgeon ( both had teams). We went over everything from start to finish and they wanted more scans. Once he was scanned and we meet back with the teams. They told us that the tumors were still there and had actually grown a decent bit, and where located they needed to come out. As his surgeon said ( it’s high price real estate). On May 16th Legend under went a minor operation to remove those tumors. We are waiting on pathology to come back to let us know if it still cancer and that he still has a tumor left in his lung that may need to be taken out after he heals from this surgery.
We have been asked by multiple people how they could donate to Legend and decided to set up a go fund me for him.
The family thanks you all for the love, support, and prayer though out this entire journey. #Legendstrong
