Our sweet little Cora Lynn has lost her beloved momma Pam (Pammy) Shambaugh.
Pam was experiencing some medical conditions and was going through it in silence for some time. Pam never let on to how severe her condition was or how much she was truly struggling. Pam was always thinking of others in this way and didn't want to feel like a burden to anyone.
Cora started to notice a significant decline in Pam's health in January 2025. Though Cora did not know the gravity of her mom's condition at this point, she knew something was not right. Cora began to drive every day to Ontario in order to help her mom any way she could. It became very obvious that Cora needed to take matters into her own hands and make some appointments for Pam and get some answers. In late January 2025, Cora got some early diagnoses and scans back that showed Pam's condition was what Cora had been fearing. After further scans, testing, and diagnoses, in early February, it was confirmed Pam had cancer. The cancer had spread into her bones and to her brain.
Cora didn't waste any time, started staying with Pam in Ontario, doing everything she could to try and get all of her momma's affairs in order, making sure she was there to get her to and from appointments, and be her caregiver. Pam was visibly digressing every day, much more quickly than anticipated. Though Cora didn't have all the answers or a timeline, she made the decision to move Pam into her house with her and her family.
On February 17th, Pam was in a lot of pain and Cora made the very tough decision to call an ambulance. She couldn't stand to see her momma in pain like that and knew she needed more medical attention than what she could provide. Pam was admitted into the hospital on February 17th and on February 18th, Cora had to make the toughest decision of her life and have Pam placed on in-hospital hospice care. Cora stayed by her momma's side every minute, talking to her, reading her messages from her friends, family, ex-co-workers, doing her hair, playing her favorite songs, and just holding her hand. On February 22nd, Pam passed away very peacefully with Cora holding her hand by her side.
Please help Cora honor her momma the way Pam deserves. Pam didn't have much and Cora is left trying to grieve and do this all on her own at the same time. Funerals are expensive and the last thing Cora needs to worry about right now is money. Cora would never ask for this herself and if you know Cora, she has the biggest heart of us all. So please, if you are able, help ease some of the stress she's experiencing during this very difficult time.
Pam's service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2025, at Bowman Funeral Parlor.
