Stand By a Fellow Resister!

If we have learned anything over the last year it's that The Resistance can move mountains. Today, we only need to move a little hill. Our good friend and member of The Resistance, Andii, aka AltAndiii, aka @dizzle5000 , needs our help!
A little bit about Andii – she just started a job helping people in her community recover from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. She spends most of her time working and helping her mom out, but she’s also an active Resister and volunteers for Adrienne Bell (@AdrBell ), who is running for congress in Texas’ 14th district, and Beto O’Rourke (@BetoORourke ), who is running for Ted Cruz’s senate seat.
In spite of her chronic health issues, Andii’s mom worked 2-4 jobs at any given time and managed to pay for an insurance plan in the ACA Marketplace. It was a precarious situation but she was getting by. However, in the last three months Andii’s mom has been struggling with her health, which meant she was unable to work enough, which meant she fell behind on her monthly payments, which meant her insurance lapsed. This week, at the worst possible moment, Andii’s mom took a sudden turn for the worse and she is now currently hospitalized in the ICU. Because the American healthcare system f-ing sucks, and because it takes time and effort to fight with the Social Security Administration, bills are piling up and Andii and her mother’s worries are mounting. We aren’t the first people to turn to GoFundMe to help a friend pay for medical expenses and fill in gaps in the social safety net, and until we have a robust, fully-funded universal healthcare system – one that is accessible to all Americans, regardless of income – we certainly won’t be the last.
But we digress!
Andii and her mom have enough on their plates for 20 people right now, and as friends of Andii’s we are determined to get them the help they need. If the United States had universal healthcare, we’d all be putting into the pot and drawing as needed. There’s no pot (yet!), but we’re all gonna put in anyway. If you’re able, please join us in donating to The American Healthcare System F-ing Sucks but Andii Definitely Does Not Fund. Proceeds will get Andii’s mom up-to-date on insurance payments and help pay for medications and visits from a nurse aid – you know, things someone in any developed nation shouldn’t have to worry about, especially when they are sick.
We’re going to make sure that Andii’s mom has everything she needs to focus on her health. We’re going to make sure that Andii can keep working and volunteering with the rest of us in The Resistance. And – eventually – we’re going to make sure we have a functioning universal healthcare system, worthy of the wealthiest nation on the planet.
