Aufgrund zunehmender Nachfragen: Alternative Spendenmöglichkeiten siehe unten am Ende des Textes. ________________________________________________________________ Seit über 8 Jahren ist meine beste Freundin Indra schwer krank – Diagnose: <a href="https://www.mecfs.de/was-ist-me-cfs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Myalgische Encephalomyelitis (ME)</a> Indra kenne ich schon seit meiner Schulzeit auf dem Wilhelm Gymnasium in Braunschweig. Ich habe sie als eine lebensfrohe, humorvolle und unternehmungslustige Schulkameradin kennengelernt, woraus eine wunderbare Freundschaft entstanden ist. Noch während ihrer Schulzeit ist sie leider schwer an ME erkrankt. Ihr Wunsch war es, das Abitur zu machen, doch sie musste ihre Schullaufbahn vorzeitig beenden und schaffte einen Schulabschluss nur noch überwiegend von zu Hause aus im Bett liegend. ME ist eine für Außenstehende unsichtbare und weitestgehend unbekannte, aber schwere neuro-immunologische Multisystem-Erkrankung, die u. a. mit schwerwiegenden Störungen des Energiestoffwechsels einhergeht. Daher gibt es auch keine kassenärztliche Versorgung. Alle Therapieversuche (Vitalstoffe, Infusionen, Immun- und Ozontherapie etc.) müssen selbst organisiert und privat finanziert werden, wodurch die Zustandsverschlechterung zwar bislang verlangsamt werden konnte, sie aber dennoch weiter fortschreitet. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/51183632_1600006560610356_r.jpeg" alt="51183632_1600006560610356_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> Nur durch diese Maßnahmen ist es ihr, wenn auch nur selten, möglich das Bett bzw. die Wohnung zu verlassen und sich noch mit ihren Freunden, die sie oftmals monatelang nicht sieht, treffen zu können. Doch die Zeiten für eine Unterhaltung werden leider immer kürzer. Das letzte Mal hatte sie nach einem dreistündigen Treffen für 2 Wochen keine Kraft mehr das Bett zu verlassen. Jede Anstrengung wie beispielsweise schon Telefonieren, ein Buch lesen oder Spazierengehen kann bis zu wochenlangen Erholungsphasen nach sich ziehen. Dann ist selbst das Sprechen oder Bewegen wegen fehlender Energie nicht mehr möglich. Indra wünscht sich wieder am Leben teilhaben zu können, zu studieren und ihre Freunde und Familie regelmäßig zu sehen. Auch ich wünsche mir und vermisse es, wieder mehr Zeit mit ihr verbringen zu können, sie lachen zu sehen und mit ihr zu verreisen, wie es früher noch möglich war.                               Doch endlich gibt es Hoffnung! Seit einigen Monaten verdichtet sich die Annahme, dass die Erkrankung bei einer Untergruppe von ME-Patienten durch eine sogenannte kraniozervikale Instabilität (CCI), welche auch bei Indra nachgewiesen ist, ausgelöst wird. CCI bedeutet, dass die Bänder der Halswirbelsäule instabil sind, was buchstäblich dazu führt, dass der Kopf die Wirbelsäule hinunter drückt und Druck auf den Hirnstamm und andere Bereiche im Gehirn ausübt. Dies kann eine Liste von Symptomen innerhalb des Nerven- und Immunsystems und auch des Stoffwechsels verursachen. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/51183632_1600007947913378_r.jpeg" alt="51183632_1600007947913378_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> Die erste klinische <a href="https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fneur.2020.00828/full" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Studie</a> , in der ein signifikant erhöhtes Auftreten von CCI unter ME-Patienten beobachtet werden konnte, wurde erst kürzlich in Schweden veröffentlicht (s.u.). Mit Hilfe der <a href="https://regenexx.com/blog/a-case-study-of-severe-ccj-instability-and-our-picl-procedure/#gref" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stammzelltherapie</a> werden die nicht mehr ausreichend stützenden Bänder im Genick- und Kopfgelenkbereich stabilisiert, wodurch der Druck von der Halswirbelsäule auf den Hirnstamm abgebaut wird. Dieses Verfahren konnte bereits vielen Betroffenen zu einer deutlich verbesserten Lebensqualität verhelfen. Einige Erkrankte sind inzwischen komplett bis annähernd symptomfrei und viele weitere sind auf dem besten Weg dorthin – hoffentlich auch bald Indra. Erfahrungen haben gezeigt, dass ca. 3 bis 5 Behandlungen benötigt werden. In Deutschland gibt es jedoch keine Sachverständigen zu dieser speziellen Technik, sodass außerhalb der USA nur Dr. Janušas (Oreme Klinik) in Brüssel den Eingriff durchführen kann. Eine andere Alternative gibt es derzeit nicht. Erste Gespräche mit Dr. Janušas und Auswertungen der Befundunterlagen sind bereits erfolgt: Indra ist eine Kandidatin für diese Therapie! Pro Behandlung kostet der Eingriff jedoch EUR 10.000,00. Solch eine Leistung wird von den Krankenkassen nicht übernommen. Für Indras Eltern ist es nach den 8 Jahren Krankheit nicht mehr möglich, diese Kosten aufzubringen. Um einen Beitrag im Bestreben die jahrzehntelange Versorgungslücke der ME-Patienten endlich zu schließen, braucht es erfolgreiche Beispiele. Ich hoffe deshalb auch, dass Indra ein erfolgreiches Beispiel für die tausend weiteren Betroffenen sein kann, damit diese in Deutschland zukünftig einen leichteren Weg vor sich haben. Jede noch so kleine Spende bringt Indra einen Schritt näher an ein normales Leben. I've known Indra since my school days at the Wilhelm Gymnasium in Braunschweig. I got to know her as a cheerful, humorous and enterprising schoolmate, which resulted in a wonderful friendship. Unfortunately, she was still seriously ill with ME during her school days. It was her wish to do the Abitur, but she had to end her school career early and only managed to graduate from home while lying in bed. ME is an invisible and largely unknown, but severe neuro-immunological multi-system disease that is invisible to outsiders. a. is associated with serious disorders of the energy metabolism. Therefore, there is no medical care. All attempts at therapy (vital substances, infusions, immune and ozone therapy, etc.) have to be organized and privately financed, which means that the deterioration of the condition has been slowed down so far, but is still progressing. Only through these measures is it possible for her, albeit rarely, to get out of bed or the apartment and still be able to meet her friends, whom she often does not see for months. Unfortunately, the times for a conversation are getting shorter and shorter. The last time she had no strength to get out of bed for two weeks after a three-hour meeting. Every effort, such as making a phone call, reading a book or going for a walk, can lead to weeks of recovery period. Then even speaking or moving is no longer possible because of a lack of energy. Indra wishes to be able to take part in life again, to study and to see her friends and family regularly. I too wish and miss being able to spend more time with her again, to see her laugh and to travel with her, as it was possible in the past.                                                                     But finally there is hope! For a few months now, the assumption has been growing that the disease in a subgroup of ME patients is triggered by what is known as craniocervical instability (CCI), which has also been demonstrated in Indra.   CCI means that the ligaments of the cervical spine are unstable, which literally causes the head to push down the spine, putting pressure on the brain stem and other areas in the brain. This can cause a list of symptoms within the nervous and immune systems and metabolism as well. The first clinical <a href="https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fneur.2020.00828/full" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">study</a> in which a significantly increased incidence of CCI among ME patients was observed was recently published in Sweden. With the help of <a href="https://regenexx.com/blog/a-case-study-of-severe-ccj-instability-and-our-picl-procedure/#gref" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stem cell therapy</a> , the ligaments in the neck and head joint areas that are no longer adequately supportive are stabilized, whereby the pressure from the cervical spine on the brain stem is reduced. This procedure has already helped many affected people to achieve a significantly improved quality of life. Some sick people are now completely or almost symptom-free and many more are on their way there - hopefully soon Indra too.   Experience has shown that around 3 to 5 treatments are required. In Germany, however, there are no experts on this particular technique, and outside the USA only Dr. Janušas (Oreme Clinic) in Brussels can perform the procedure. There is currently no other alternative. First discussions with Dr. Janušas and evaluations of the findings documents have already taken place:                                                         Indra is a candidate for this therapy!                                However, the procedure costs EUR 10,000.00 per treatment. Such a service is not covered by the health insurance. After the 8 years of illness for Indra's parents it is no longer possible to raise these costs. Successful examples are needed to make a contribution in the endeavor to finally close the decades-long supply gap for ME patients. I therefore also hope that Indra can be a successful example for the thousand other people affected so that they will have an easier path ahead of them in Germany in the future.
