The Stahl family woke up to a nightmare
their house was on fire...
thank God they all made it out safely!

They are the kindest people!

here is the story
Now that almost 2 days have passed I am finally starting to get my bearings. I am absolutely overwhelmed by the love I've been getting from my community, friends and family. There are no words to express my gratitude.

At 1:30am Wednesday our house caught on fire (assumed it started by the boiler). I nursed Violet and had put her back to bed at 12:30am. I went upstairs to crash. I woke up around 1:30 because Casey was screaming downstairs, I couldn't make out what he was saying. I picked up my phone to check the time and was mad that he woke me up. I pulled on my sweatshirt and heard him yell that we had to go outside. I was just confused.

I started toward the stairs and he appeared at the bottom, "The house is on fire - we need to get outside!". I saw him run into Nolan's room and I scooped up Dylan and started running downstairs, still thinking I didn't hear him right. Suddenly I was hit with smoke. I saw Casey getting Nolan out of his crib. I ran into Violet's room and scooped her under my other arm, on the way to the back door I glanced at the living room and saw the flames coming out of the kitchen. I ran out of the back door holding Violet under one arm and Dylan under the other. As I was coming around the back of the house to run down the driveway I heard the fire roar in the house and through the window I saw bright orange flames all the way up to the kitchen ceiling. We ran down the driveway and went to our neighbors.

We were so lucky. So. Lucky. What floored me most was the after math, people offering to help, everyone making sure we were OK. The grapevine communication just amazed me and I am eternally grateful to have such a wonderful group of friends and community. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support and well wishes during this time.

Edit: the first Ring doorbell video is 1:35a and you see the smoke and hear us leaving. The second Ring video is 1:37 and we're already out and you can see some flames coming through the door
