Stage 3 Cancer Medical For Steve

My husband, Steven Bryant, was diagnosed with Stage III cancer of the esophagus and stomach, on June 21st of 2017. Since June he was off work for a numerous months, we struggled through until he was cleared by the surgeon and he returned to work part-time mid-October. Then the unthinkable happened! As if dealing with cancer wasn’t enough for Steve and our family, between November 12th and 19th, 2017 Steven’s semi truck and trailer were stolen. The 18wheeler and trailer were both parked at the Flying J in St. Augustine, FL near where we live. The police of course were notified, all proper procedures have been done by us and the police are doing their best to actively search for the semi truck and trailer. Steve has now completely lost his whole job and livelihood.
Steve is one tough cookie who returned to work only about a month ago, since mid-October. He was getting chemotherapy one week, resting at home and then the following week (if and when he was able to) he was driving. Steve was repeating this work schedule for the past month, just to keep a roof over heads and food on the table. The complete loss of his income on top of the cancer illness is truly devastating. This makes the struggle even harder to buy food, pay the mortgage, utilities and order Steve his necessary medications.
By the way, my name is Michelle, and I am Steve’s wife. By sponsoring this campaign, our plea for charity you are helping a dad, a grandfather, an Army Veteran, a self employed over the road truck driver with no work benefits, a friend, a fellow human being and a loving husband go through an extremely tough situation. Please if you have acid reflux, we implore you to seek more out from your doctor, as this is unfortunately how Steven’s Cancer Journey all began. Our precious cat Ricochet, would also be very grateful for us to be able to buy him some food and kitty litter too with your generosity.
I will be frank with what we most desperately need help with. We find ourselves asking for kindness in the form of donations from friends, family, members of our community and strangers, to ease the burden of just basic daily living essentials like groceries. To tell you that we even just have a urgent need for food beyond what canned and dry goods the food bank can help us with.
That we require help to keep a roof over our heads. We are struggling to keep up with the modest mortgage, power and water bill of our house. My own job, having yard sales and selling our belongings is just barely covering the expenses. Our goal is to be able to remain at home while dealing with this dreaded disease, instead of being out on the streets and homeless. I can’t fathom what to do if we lose our home and what would happen to Steve, keeping Steven comfortable, around Christmas time when he is to have stomach removal surgery. Steven’s recuperation will be approximately until the beginning of April for the stomach removal surgery.
The financial bills that go along with Fighting cancer is tough business to wrap your mind around. Steve’s journey is a personal battle with a very large obstructing esophagus / stomach mass. The Stage 3 cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy treatments, being fed by a feeding tube into his stomach, losing upwards of forty pounds and severe muscle mass loss, upcoming stomach removal surgery with possibly more afterwards chemotherapy and radiation treatments, months of lost wages since June, hundreds of dollars in travel expenses, thousands of dollars in medical expenses, hospital stays, out of town hotels and meals, medication, immunotherapy, PET scans, tube feedings, in home nursing care and other life-saving treatments are both difficult physically and costly and to now also be suffering the devastating loss of his lively-hood is just to much for us to bare alone.
Please help a loved one get financial relief support during a challenging time. The diagnosis, treatments and the projected estimated costs of Fighting Cancer costs lots of money. Contrary to popular belief, not every Veteran is fully covered, for us it is an 80/20 split. We have to co-pay twenty percent of everything. Every primary care doctor’s visit runs twenty-five dollars a visit, specialist visits which runs fifty to one hundred dollars a visit per doctor, travel expenses like gas for a two hour drive to see the specialists, oncologists and surgeons in Orlando at the Lake Nona VA, chemotherapy doctor visits and the chemo medication costs which is running into the triple digits, hospital procedures where the pricing varies but is already running into the thousands, and co-pays on all the many medications, which varies as well. It’s hard to ask for help when a loved one is facing this illness, to be so humble to ask you. Thank you very much for taking the time to read about Steve.
