Stacy needs to survive for her kids

Please forward this to everyone you know:
To family, friends, and those who do not know us, but have a big heart and want to make a big difference in people’s lives. Your help will absolutely increase our loved one, Stacy’s chance of surviving her battle with Stage 4 cancer over the next year.

Our family is in the middle of a severe crisis. Some of you may know Stacy Weinstein, her sister Sharon Brantley and parents, Mark and Elaine Weinstein. I am her brother in-law, Craig Brantley who is married to Sharon. I am writing to everyone because the other family members are crashing due to the unbelieveale stress and worry that has occurred since Stacy’s unexpected diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer.

Stacy had passed out and fell in February, and thought that she had bruised her tailbone. Within two days, she could not feel her feet and went to the hospital thinking it was a spinal injury. While the MRI showed a fracture, it also showed a mass on the spine. The hospital did spinal surgery before the results of a biopsy and PET Scan.

The results of these tests showed a horrifying, rare cancer that had formed underneath the skin. It had rapidly spread to her spine, ovaries and liver, and is spreading quickly. She needs Chemo ASAP, but her body is so weak from having surgery with cancer, that she cannot start until rehab strengthens her body and legs. At this time, she cannot walk.

So why am I asking for help? If there was anyone who did not deserve the incredible pain and agony, it’s Stacy.

Stacy was born with a birth defect. She could not smile until she was three. She has had to work extremely hard to overcome her inability to learn and speak at normal levels. She worked hard and landed a job with the local Government and has been there for 20 years. The problem is that she has only ever worked part-time. Obviously, she is unable to work any longer at this time and she was never able to afford good insurance.

She is now 49 years old and is a mother of two beautiful, young girls. Khloe is four and Kaylin is eight. They absolutely adore and love their mother as Stacy is proving to be a fantastic mother, regardless of her disabilities. You can see the sadness in the Khloe and Kaylins’ eyes when they visit Stacy in the healthcare facility.

Due to her insurance, she had limited options for an inpatient facility to give her rehab until she’s strong enough to start Chemo. The facility her insurance covers is called Bethesda Health and Rehabilitation Center. I urge anyone here to look up this facility. The problem is that Chemotherapy will kill Stacy in her extremely weak state. Her Oncologist needs her to go through rehab to strengthen her body before she can even begin Chemotherapy. This center, over the past several weeks, has not only failed in every way to give her the necessary rehabilitation, they are LITERALLY the seventh level of hell. They should be shut down immediately. She has gotten worse and the Oncologist feels her best chance of survival is home-care around family.

While writing this, Stacy called crying that she has developed a painful infection because they leave her laying in urine for hours at a time. They do not clean her surgery sight on her lower back and still have not given her a catheter. They only do 15-30 minutes of therapy a day, unless they forget her pain medicine, which has occurred 6 times and caused her not to have her physical therapy. Mark and Elaine are crying every day.

We need the funds to set up a care facility on our first floor. We need to pay for nursing and rehabilitation therapy as soon as possible, so she can get strong enough to begin Chemo. Every second that goes by is decreasing her chance of beating cancer.
