Imagine you struggled for over ten years to conceive...
Imagine brutal rounds of ivf...
Imagine they fail...
Then...
Imagine the sheer joy of finally conceiving.
Imagine planning all the things you want to do with your new baby.
Imagine holding your brand new baby boy.
Now
Imagine 4 months later being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer......

I cannot imagine the pain and anguish my friend must have felt when she was given that devastating diagnosis. Just four months after completing her family with a long awaited baby boy.
My friend stacie is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Sweet, funny, caring, all the things you could wish for in a friend, partner, sister and indeed mother!
Stacie was a single mum when I met her with a lovely young son called Joel. She's always full of laughter and fun, beautiful with long gorgeous hair. It was lovely to see her fall in love when she met the man of her dreams and began to plan marriage and have more children. Sadly her journey to conception was a rough and rocky road resulting in an eptopic pregnancy, a devastating late misscarrage at 4 months pregnant and 2 brutal and unsuccessful rounds of ivf.
In June 2018 stacie began to feel unwell and was seeking medical advice being told her symptoms were not serious and feeling fobbed off if I'm honest.
Finally stacie and her partner had the wonderful suprise of finding out they had conceived naturally and a fretful pregnancy ensued, with 15 scans throughout her pregnancy and given extra care throughout. Due to colasatisis nearly 8 months pregnant Stacie was induced 3 weeks early and in April 2019 gave birth to a healthy baby boy they named Hunter.
Stacies health continued to cause concern and she had a continuous cough she couldn't shake off plus getting breathless, in August 2019 her coughing had gotten so bad that she was struggling to breath. Her older son Joel (then 15) called an ambulance and stacie was rushed to hospital where an x-ray was performed and they noticed her heart look very inflammed so she had an ECG and they could see alot of liquid, she was then rushed to have it drained which turnt out to be 2 litres of fluid, to which she had drained and then the tube left in overnight to try and drain some more.
She was then in hospital for 11 days and enduring test after test and being left in the dark just wanting to be home with her young baby and teenage son.
On the 21st of August just 4 months after giving birth to hunter she was then told she had a form of lung cancer and was then referred to oncologist. A week later on the 28th of august 2019 just 2 days before her 33rd birthday stacie was diagnosed with stage 4a lung cancer. This cancer is incurable and stacies prognosis is not good. She is now a palative care patient and living on borrowed time. Stacie has suffered 5 rounds of 6 hours at a time of intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy and unfortunately didn't work and her tumour grew, then a different course of chemotherapy was available to try so she was given 4 rounds of treatments that made her loose the beautiful hair she had worn past her waist. But she was unable to finish this course due to covid so only got 3 rounds, this helped by keeping the tumour and cancer at bay. But due to being very breathless she was then given 5 rounds of radiotherapy to try and shrink the tumour as the tumor is pressing on her windpipe and breathing is a struggle. This did help and it did slightly shrink but unfortunately due the the cancer and where it is she cannot have any more radiotherapy. Every day things are now a struggle.
It is absolutely heartbreaking as a mother myself to know that all the things we take for granted like day trips out and planning holidays and such are so much harder for her physically, emotionally and sadly financially too. I am making this page in the hope that we can all give as much as we can to help stacie and her family enjoy the time left she has with her children. This could be Stacies last Christmas and may even have to be brought forward so want to make as many memories for her and her children as possible. Thank you for taking the time to read and hope you can help make some dreams and memories. Every little helps.
