Stacey Strong

There is Superman Strong, Army Strong, and Strong as an Ox but the strongest of these is STACEY STRONG.

Stacey is my sister and she is by far the strongest person I know.  Right now she could use some support! Stacey's life has been a serious of trials and with each one that comes along she surpasses all obstacles with Determination and Grace.

Stacey has been a single Mom with two children and sometimes worked up to four jobs to support both her daughter and her son who had some special needs.  Eight years ago Stacey's son Matt passed away at 23 years old of a heart attack.  Stacey and the family were, of course, devastated.  Stacey drew on her faith and the support of friends and family and even though she was broken, she was and is inspiration to many, as she endures her grief day after day.

Stacey has been my rock in the last two years as we became the full time caregivers for my Mom who was battling one illness after the other from 8 consecutive bouts of C-difficile colitis to two strokes and a broken neck.  My Mother's illness lead us to eventually place her in a nursing home this last January.

Three weeks after my Mom's placement Stacey has been given the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 colon rectal cancer that has metastasized and invaded her liver.  Once again my sister has to BE STRONG and fight with everything she has.  In typical Stacey fashion she is concerned with those around her as much as she is determined to fight.  In a recent post she wrote:

Please do not worry about me, pray instead. The first one wears on you, the second one helps both!   Pray for my helpers, they will need you as much as I do, maybe more. Take care of yourselves, that's how you can help me the most. No I am not scared. Every time I am scared, God has shown up like never before. He has held my hand given me peace like never before. This new even closer walk is awesome and comforts me every second. Get your damn colonoscopy, Period!

As usual she is STONG for all of us, not just her self. Stacey is a truly selfless, giving person and always is there for anyone that needs help.  This illness is bringing many challenges that we can help Stacey with so that she can use her energy to overcome her illness.  While she does have insurance she has a large deductible and out of pocket expenses and if her cancer treatment takes her "out of network" she does not have a cap on her medical expenses. She needs funds to help ease her pain and to attack the cancer holistically and naturally as well as medically.  Right now, she is unable to go back to her teaching job at Ferguson Middle school because of pain.  Stacey would never ask for help, and would never want anyone to give more than just a little if they were to help.  Yet, as her family and friends we can stand behind her with a few donations it will mean so much to her. Thank you!
