Hi, my name is Jesse. I've started a nonprofit in WI to run apprenticeships and business start-ups for veterans. We owe more than we ever pay back to veterans and I want to help change that.
I worked in construction, specifically bathrooms for the last 20 years and over that time I had the honor of working for lots of vets. I even did a shower for a WW2 vet, 96 years young, just last year who couldn't get into his tub anymore and had been cleaning himself with a washcloth and towel for the last 3 years. It was one of the most rewarding days I've ever had. That got me thinking about how many other veterans needed help and weren't receiving it. TOO MANY is the answer I found.
I can't accept that. I want to help. I have to help.
I want to establish multi businesses that are veteran owned and operated. I want them all to have a place in their communities where they are thriving and contributing back to the place they fought to defend.
I need your help to do it. I've covered the filing fees, permits, and state and Fed taxes numbers but I'm trying to raise to find a building to lease that has the space to run the apprenticeship programs. We have a preliminary list of apprenticeships but will always be adding to accommodate as many people as we can. As of now, it's carpentry, painting, carpet cleaning and a few others we don't have all the details finalized quite yet.
Any help is appreciated and obviously, money helps but we are looking for used equipment also to help start faster with less initial capital. Any tools can be put to good use in the training programs.
Thank you, thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you have tools or suggestions for apprenticeships we would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Jesse
