St. Mary’s Child & Mother Health Care Center

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Linda, and I am fundraising with Victor for the St. Mary’s Child & Mother Health Care Center in Bolpur, India.

Why do we do that?
Actually, my mother is a lot involved in our community and parish council St. Josef in my hometown Obertshausen in Germany and told me about this project they support. I wanted to do something good by riding my bike from Portugal to Germany in summer so she suggested this project. As I learned more about the hospital's important work, including all the villages in the area, I decided to dedicate our bike ride to support them by helping raise money.

About the great work they do!
Since 2011, the children's hospital has been an important contact point for people from the villages around Bolpur. Most of the patients belong to the aboriginal tribe of the Santals, who still rank among the casteless in Indian society.
They live in their traditional way, speak their dialect, but not the official language Bengali, live without electricity and water supply, without medical care in poor and very primitive hygienic conditions, plus malnutrition.

This is where the work of the children's hospital comes into play: on the one hand, free treatment, especially for children and mothers with tuberculosis, eye diseases, skin diseases, infections, etc. The second, equally important pillar is education and prevention in the areas of nutrition and hygiene: in the hospital itself and through trained attendants in the villages.

We would like to earn more awareness to the hospital’s work by dedicating our bike trip to this heart project and furthermore to raise money. So please help us to help them! Every Euro counts.
