St Mark Lutheran Church

St. Mark Lutheran Church has been an integral part of the community for 111 years.  We are located on the south side of Chicago in the heart of the community on the corner of 88th and Langley.  We are the “CAN DO” church with the “WILL DO” Pastor (Dr. Lawrence Clark).  The Mission of St. Mark is “to make Christ known through service, learning, worship, and witnessing to all”.

In our effort to make Christ known, at the same time we were faced with the challenge of making our old church building accessible to all.  The congregation put in an elevator giving access to Worship center, Fellowship Hall, and we made our bathrooms handicapped accessible.  This also allowed us to offer a variety of programs including:  Summer Day Camp, which provided free lunches for the campers and the community at large.  We have hosted Coats, Toys, and Glove giveaways, free breakfasts, summer block club meetings, picnics, Computer classes for seniors, offering families Holiday Baskets, Election Polling Place, and youth programs heavily focused on education, mentorship, and service projects. 

We want to continue and expand our ministry by paying off our Accessibility mortgage of $70,000.
