St Maarten Islander Relief Fund

My name is Donnamarie Pardi.  I am a US citizen who resides both on the island of St Maarten and in Jupiter, Florida.  On Tuesday Sept 5th Hurricane Irma hit the island of St Maarten as an epic Caterogy 5 Hurricane. The destruction on St Maarten is being decribed as "Bibical" in nature. The pictures coming out are incomprehensible.  Though cell service is intermittent, I have spoken with local people on island, and my heart breaks with every phone call. Islanders are begging for help for their children and themselves. I spoke to a single Mom whose home and all posessions were completely blown away. She and the people in her community have no access to food, running water, or shelter, and their only posessions are the clothes they were wearing when the storm hit nearly two weeks ago. Her three year old daughter is still wearing the filthy pajamas she was in the night of the storm.  They have no shoes, and she has to carry her daughter and cannot put her down, as there is broken glass, nails, and shredded tin roof everywhere.  The poorest people on island were hit the hardestI They are homeless, hungry and  have no basic posessions to conduct daily life. I have spent my days comforting this woman and so many others like her, who are waiting for help that has not come. I can no longer sit, cry and wait.  Our family has decided that we need to help, and have devised a plan to get emergency supplies to this woman and the many others in her community in the same situtation NOW.  The locals desperately need your help to get food, water, clothing,  shoes, personal hygiene items, baby products, cleaning products, tarp, and basic materials for shelter.  With the funds raised from this campaign, our family currently at our home base in Jupiter Florida, will procure these desperately needed emergency supplies.  We are receiving specific lists of items most needed and are working directly with the port of West Palm Beach FL to conduct shipments beginning later this week.  These shipments will be directly received by TRUSTED personal contacts at the port of St Maarten and will be taken DIRECTLY to this community known as Middle Region. Please give what you can. Every dollar counts!
