St Luke's Community Sponsorship Drive

We are a neighbourhood group aiming to welcome a resettled refugee household or family to St Luke's as part of a new nationwide programme called Community Sponsorship.

Life in Ireland can be complicated at the best of times. Daily life is littered with knotty administration, nepotism and inside knowledge. Moreover, refugees resettled to Ireland face additional barriers including language, discrimination and isolation. That's why we're doing this - the whole idea is that local communities connect newcomer families to supports and networks, and help them to navigate the often difficult transition into life in Ireland.

St Luke's is a warm, active and creative community and we think there's more than enough goodwill, enthusiasm and talent here to make it a wonderful place for a newcomer family. By fundraising this money, we will be able to help cover the expenses of a family moving to Ireland for the first time. This will include an initial expenses and rental buffer before welfare supports are received; financial assistance with dentistry and healthcare supports; interpretation services; and more, depending on the family's particular circumstances. 

Your support is essential to making this dream a reality, and means a refugee family arriving in the community can seamlessly forge a new life in Ireland.
