The perfect time around the year to give more than you lovely souls have been giving all year round.
All funds collected (accepting every form of donation via gofundme, etransfer, paypal, cashapp, moneygram, western union, venmo, etc -- Information below) will go towards the funds for Peter Sidikie Gbla's application to The University of Makeni, Sierra Leone (http://unimak.edu.sl/wordpress/routes-to-study-and-learning/departments/centre-of-excellence-for-special-education#:~:text=Joseph%E2%80%99s%20School%20for%20the%20Hearing%20Impaired%2C%20Makeni%20was,more%20than%20251%20students%20from%20across%20Sierra%20Leone.). The application fee is Le550,000.00, equivalent to ~$69 Canadian Dollars, while tuition fees for each year of University are Le6,000,000.00, equivalent to ~$753.00 Canadian Dollars, therefore, the more funds we are able to collect, the more we can support Peter in his journey of Education.
In my visit to Sierra Leone in June 2019, I had the pleasure of getting to know Peter as I stayed in the St. Joseph's School for Hearing Impaired (http://stjosephshischool.com/). Peter was the eldest student enrolled in this school, and possessed extreme talent in the field of Visual and Graphic Arts as well as Sciences. He had painted many murals and visuals around the school, designed rooms apart of the schools renovations, and was actively involved in many projects in the community that he was recruited for through word of mouth for his talent.
Although Education is a Universal Right for all Children, unfortunately not all places around the globe are equipped to provide this to the children of their countries. Fortunately, St. Joseph's School is West Africa's only school to offer primary education and language acquisition supported with sign language, with a goal of providing education to those living with hearing impairments and different abilities, so then these children can go on to contribute to society in the economic and cultural field. Peter's endless and infinite passion, dedication, and ambition although living amongst so many challenges brought him many successes throughout his primary education, but after completing his primary education, unfortunately in Sierra Leone there is no systems in place like the western world that equip those living with different abilities to succeed unless they pursue a University-level education, and then go on to use their Education to defy all odds and fight against the world of forces against them.
Peter hopes to attend the University of Makeni, to accomplish his dreams and goals of completing a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science as he believes Computer Sciences in the present and future. Given his character, attitudes, and work ethic, I know Peter will always do everything in his power to succeed; and being born into the life he was born into in Sierra Leone, yet coming this far only goes to show the power of endless desire and strength.
As we all know in the western world the power of education, I hope ya'll can do your best to support Peter in his Journey with Education. I am extremely thankful for every donation that is made, and thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for supporting another's education.
