Although many hours of preparation were put in, Irma proved too strong and S/V Survivan sunk in Hurricane Hole. St. John Yacht Charters is a family business with S/V Survivan serving as both a beloved family sailing yacht, and a means to sustain a livelihood for the family. Justin and Ashley worked tirelessly to build St. John Yacht Charters into one of the top charter business on St. John and Irma has derailed that hard work.
Justin and Ashley put all concern for themselves and their business aside in the days after Irma to do whatever was necessary to help their community. Hurricane Maria followed Irma a short time later to continue to batter the island and halt all relief efforts. Justin was able to evacuate before this second hurricane hit. The future is uncertain at this point, with the short term plan being to set up a base safely in the states. Justin and Ashley will return to St. John as soon as possible to work in any capacity available to help rebuild the community.
The community will rebuild with the help of people like Justin and Ashley. The tourists will eventually return. As strong as St. John and Justin and Ashley are, they are reluctant to ask, but need our help. Irma has left them displaced and without a business. They need help bridging the gap between now and the future. Any funds donated that are not used will be donated directly to fellow St. Johnians' immediate needs.
BELIEVE that St. John and St. John Yacht Charters will return.
