St. John Families Irma Relief

In the aftermath of hurricane Irma, the people of St. John, USVI are left with great devastation.  This island is my home away from home.  My name is A.J. Winstead and I lived there for 3 years in the late eighties/early nineties and during that time I made friends that today I consider my family.  I arrived on St. John right after hurricane Hugo hit and was immediately sent in as an aid to St. Croix.  Seeing first-hand how Hugo left so many people destitute, I know St. John desperately needs our help right now. I am setting up this account to personally help four of my friends:  Butchie and Avis James, who literally watched their home blow away while they waited out the storm in their basement.  They lost everything, left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.  Brenda Rector-Wallace, who lost an entire half of her house, yet she says she feels fortunate despite this disaster.  Ethlyn Simmons, who is like a mother to me, was in Tampa, Florida during the storm and is still unable to get back to St. John to assess the damage to her home.  I want to do everything I can to help my St. John family so I’m asking you all, to please join in with me and donate as much as you can…...no amount is too small.

The funds collected will be used for clothing, home repairs, whatever they need to get back on their feet.  This is going to be a long journey for all of them.  Mail and shipping to the island is not available currently, so
