COVID-19 Emergency Fund For Your Local Shelter

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people in ways that we previously thought were unimaginable. This rings especially true for people experiencing homelessness during this time.
We are a student organization at Boston University called Hearts for the Homeless Boston and we can typically be found at the St. Francis House (https://stfrancishouse.org/) every Sunday morning conducting free cardiovascular disease screenings for the guests. Although we are no longer able to provide these services to the shelter, we would still like to help our friend in any way that we can.
The St. Francis House has a strong history of serving a daily breakfast and lunch, providing clothing to guests, hosting a medical clinic operated by Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, and even holding an art therapy program for its guests. It is the largest day shelter in Massachusetts and provides these services to an average of 500 guests per day.
Currently, the St. Francis House is facing additional expenses of $10,000 a day due to COVID-19 on top of their normal operating expenses. This goes towards screening guests for COVID-19 exposure and symptoms, extra deep cleaning measures in the building, and ensuring that meal services can continue while also observing social distancing protocol. Everyone's lives have been impacted differently by COVID-19, but we ask that you consider donating to the St. Francis House if you are able. All donations big and small are welcome and 100% of all funds raised will go to the St. Francis House COVID-19 Emergency Fund.
