St. Augustine's Newest Beach Access!

Donation protected

**********************************************************
Living in St. Augustine is all about the beautiful, white sand beaches!  Whether you are looking to start your day watching the sunrise; casting a line to catch the big one; waiting on the perfect wave; combing the beach for that illusive shell or just wanting to sit a while and breath in the salt air; our group's goal has been to create a new access point to GET YOU ON THE BEACH QUICKER.

The St. Johns County Board of Commissioners has approved our request to add a beach walkway at Escambia Street.  This stretch of beach is one of the longest on Anastasia Island  that does not offer a public access point.  The addition of this walkway will assist in reducing
vehicle traffic on the beach as local residents can now more easily walk/bike to the beach.   Reducing beach traffic will have a positive effect on our natural resources and that is a Win-Win for everyone.

This new beach access was OPENED to public use as of late December 2021!  Thanks so much for all who have contributed to make this vision a reality.  It has been “quite” a journey to get to this point… 12 years of working with St. John’s County Staff… numerous meetings with neighbors and County Officials… but it happened; Ocean Grove Subdivision and Southern Treasure Beach NOW have a beach access for all to enjoy.

On March 15, 2022 at 9 am at the Board of County Commissioners will vote to accept the improvements of the right of way; but before we can do so.. we need to raise an additional $9,000 to complete punch out items and provide reserve funds for future maintenance, per our agreement with the County.  Originally, we had budgeted to raise $112,500 but due to typical development “issues” which arise throughout the process the budget has continued to increase and the final cost to meet all of our obligations is $130,000.  As of February 24, 2022, we have raised $121,000 thought the generosity of neighbors throughout our neighborhood, as is evident by all the yard signs; THANKS SO MUCH!

If you too, LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE.. and look forward to use of “easier” beach access to OUR natural resource PLEASE consider contributing so we can turn this project over to St. John’s County for our public use.
Any donation is most appreciated!  To learn more about the project or if you have any questions, please contact Bill Miller at (Nine-0-Four) Three 0ne Five - Eight Nine Three 0
