Help Train a Service Dog

More than a year ago, Rebecca’s doctor recommended she consider getting a service dog.  At the time, she did not think her illness was bad enough to warrant having such a prized aid.  As time has gone on, Rebecca and her family have realized that she needs help.  A service dog would help her maintain and even regain independence from others.

Small every day tasks such as fetching medications or carrying items would help Rebecca on days when she has severe symptoms. A service dog would also be able to help brace her on days when she becomes tired. These might seem like insignificant things to others, but they are tasks that will go miles in allowing her to concentrate on more important things and decrease her dependence upon family and friends.

It’s very difficult for her to ask for help, and it’s even more difficult to ask for financial help. She is a private person. Rebecca and her family truly believe that her doctor is correct, and that a service dog will go along way in helping her.

Rebecca has researched programs and dog trainers. She has decided to work with a trainer near her home. Working with a trainer will allow her to pay for the dog slowly as the dog is trained, instead of requiring a lump sum. It also allows Rebecca to participate in the selection and training of the dog , increasing her bond and the potential benefits. She plans to invest as much as her own money as she can, but she is on a limited income and only has so much to offer. You’re donation will go a long way in helping train a service dog for Rebecca.
