SSG Jeremie Border Memorial Hwy

As many of you likely know, my son Jeremie was a wonderful man, devoted brother, and loyal friend. His list of achievements throughout his life were many. He graduated from Mesquite High School in 2002 and he played for the 2001 Skeeter State Championship Football team. He was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout high school and college. In 2002, Jeremie earned the honor of Eagle Scout. In 2006, he graduated with a double major in Communications and Sociology from McMurry University.

Upon graduation, Jeremie enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman and attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, GA. He graduated from the Army's Basic Airborne Course before being assigned to the 1-17th Infantry Division at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 2008, Jeremie graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant and was selected to learn Indonesian. Once completed, Jeremie was assigned to Operational Detachment-Alpha 1111, B Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Okinawa, Japan.

On September 1st, 2012, at the age of 28, my son, our hero, SSG. Jeremie "JBO" Border gave his life selflessly defending his fellow soldiers in Batur Village, Afghanistan. Jeremie's awards and decorations reflect his deep commitment to service and include the Bronze Star with Valor Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon with numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Special Forces Tab, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.

We have been given the unique opportunity and distinct honor to have Jeremie's name forever memorialized on a Texas state highway. With the passing of house bill SB1126, State Highway 352 will be named SSG Jeremie S. Border Memorial Hwy. In order to have markers placed on the highway we will need your help. Please consider making a donation to help us make this a reality.

Any funds left over after paying for the highway memorial will be split among Green Beret Foundation, First Special Forces Group, and the Jeremie Border Scholarship Fund.   Thank you in advance for helping us make this happen for our Batman.
