Slezak/Spisak Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On the early evening of Saturday, January 10th Lynette Slezak and Terry Spisak left home for approximately an hour to get something to eat. Earlier that day, the youngest son, Bronson, moved out on his own to Mayfield Heights, Ohio, just taking some of his clothing with him. Oldest son, Nathan, was away from the home working. After that hour, Terry received a phone call from the fire chief of Aurora with words that no person wants to hear: informing him the family home was in flames.

The couple rushed “home” to find that there no longer was one. Our three dogs were burned alive in the flames, and they watched helplessly as countless irreplaceable family pictures, work computers, sentimental items, home essentials, shoes, clothing; anything that a person needs on a daily basis burned down with the house but all that could be done is watch everything become a pile of ashes. Absolutely everything that was inside of the house is currently unsalvageable.

The family is expected to return to normalcy knowing that the place that they have called home for the last 7 years is nothing but ashes, and the three dogs that greeted them with kisses, barks, and smiles died scared, trapped, and alone in the fire.  Although most aspects of this situation are devastating, no person was harmed and it is a miracle that all people living in the house are alive and well, outside of the home at the time of the fire.

This gofundme is made so our family can try to get our lives back together, and to help in having to work day by day to replace what we’ve worked to build over the years. We have lost everything we own including things/animals that can never be replaced. When I look at the house I see what used to be a family room where Christmas was spent, the area where our dogs were kept, but primarily just ruins of something that once was. We can only go forward from here, thank you for the concern and support that family and friends have provided us thus far.

Attached are some pictures of what is left of our home.

The Living Room

More wreckage. The cage pictured is where one of our dogs, Rascal, was kept when no one was home and also where she perished.
