<div>Hi, my name is Praba. I am a women’s cricket player in the UK, born and raised in Sri Lanka. I am a member of Upton Cricket Club, Cheshire and Sefton Park Cricket Club, Liverpool, competing in different leagues. Cricket has been a big part of my life, and being involved in the UK cricket community has given me many friendships and experiences that I truly value.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sri Lanka is not only my homeland but also a country deeply loved for its cricket. From village grounds to world-class players who inspired generations, cricket is part of our identity. It is a game that brings us together and connects Sri Lankans with cricket communities around the world, including here in the UK.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, however, my country is facing one of its darkest moments. Sri Lanka is experiencing one of its worst disasters in decades after Cyclone Ditwah caused massive flooding and landslides across the country. Millions of people have been affected, many lives have been lost and countless families have been displaced with nothing left. Entire communities have been washed away and urgent help is needed for those who have lost everything.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The disaster has caused severe destruction to roads, bridges and rail lines, cutting off towns and making rescue work extremely difficult. Thousands of homes, schools, hospitals and water supply systems have been damaged or destroyed. Many families still lack clean water, food, medicine and safe shelter.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is one of the most devastating floods Sri Lanka has experienced in decades, and recovery will take a long time. Every contribution, big or small, will help provide urgent support and assist families who are struggling to rebuild their lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As a member of the UK cricket community, I am organising this fundraiser to support the people of Sri Lanka during this crisis. The cricket community has always stood together in times of need, and I truly believe that with the support of players, clubs and supporters across the UK, we can bring real hope and relief to those affected.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Where Your Donations Will Go</strong>
</div>
<div>All funds raised will be transferred directly to the official Sri Lankan Government Disaster Relief Account held in the UK.
</div>
<div>Your donations will support urgent needs and long-term recovery, including:
</div>
<div>• Food and clean drinking water for affected families
</div>
<div>• Temporary shelter and bedding for displaced people
</div>
<div>• Essential medical supplies and emergency treatment
</div>
<div>• Rebuilding damaged homes and community buildings
</div>
<div>• Repairing roads, bridges and rail lines destroyed by the floods
</div>
<div>• Restoring electricity, water supply and sanitation systems
</div>
<div>• Clearing debris and landslide damaged areas
</div>
<div>• Supporting the Sri Lankan Government’s national recovery effort, which focuses on restoring critical infrastructure and helping communities rebuild their lives
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Support from the UK Cricket Community</strong>
</div>
<div>I will be reaching out to cricket clubs across the UK, including both men’s and women’s teams, to stand together during this difficult time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kindly note: We are encouraging small donations of £5–£20 so everyone can contribute comfortably and can take part without any financial burden and together we can provide meaningful support to Sri Lankan families in urgent need. Clubs and players can donate directly through this GoFundMe link.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Transparency Promise</strong>
</div>
<div>To ensure complete transparency, I will share the following:
</div>
<ul>
<li>Regular updates on the total funds raised
</li>
<li>Screenshots and confirmation of every transfer sent to the official Sri Lankan Government disaster relief account
</li>
<li>Updates from Sri Lanka as relief and rebuilding efforts continue
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fundraiser is completely transparent and dedicated solely to helping families affected by the floods. All donations will go directly to the Government of Sri Lanka’s official disaster relief fund, which is responsible for coordinating emergency support, rebuilding homes, repairing infrastructure and assisting affected families across the country.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All transfers will be recorded, and I will upload screenshots of every transfer made to the official government account.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Please Support Sri Lanka</strong>
</div>
<div>Thank you so much for taking the time to read and support this cause. Even the smallest donation can bring relief and hope to families who have lost everything. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your cricket club, friends or community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Together, as the UK cricket family, we can stand with Sri Lanka during this unimaginable crisis and help rebuild lives, homes and communities. Your kindness truly makes a difference. ❤️
