Squishy Face Shelby
Hello, my name is Danielle. My partner Ellie and I have rescued 3 exotic short haired Persians and 2 long haired Persians. Shelby being a long haired black Persian cat. Of the bunch, Shelby appears to be the one needing vet attention the most and we are hoping you could be the one to help Shelby get back on her feet!
She has ingrown toe nails that have gone all the way around imbedding into her skin and one of her toes has died and needs to be removed. With the help of a vet nurse friend we have removed some of the nails we could, but there were some that were too deeply imbedded and require vet doctor
attention. Shelby will most likely need to be lightly sedated to have the remainder removed. She will then need anti-inflammatory medication, pain killers and antibiotics. As well as this, she has some cyst-like looking bumps along her eyelids that need to be checked and she has been pooing blood. We’d also like for her to get bloods done and have her breathing checked as it’s a little stuffy (no sneezes or coughs though thankfully). She’ll need to be wormed too. From the short time we’ve known her, you can see she has been very resilient, and brave enough to come out for pats. We’ve had to shave most of her body as it was one giant matted mess which had really irritated her skin. She has some redness around her neck where a collar had worn away at her skin but thankfully it didn’t create an open wound. Shelby is a very tolerant girl! She has had a bath which she really needed as the poor poppet smelt very bad and her own faeces and urine were entangled in with her fur. Her ears have also been cleaned as well as her eyes as they were quite goopy. As you can imagine, Shelby’s been through a lot. Being secluded in a tiny toilet-sized room with no windows or light and with 4 others Persians for an inconceivable amount of time. After all that, she still likes a pat and purrs. Her temperament is unbelievably forgiving and loving! Shelby is under weight, weighing 3kg. After the shave and clean she has dandruff to the skin but hopefully that should clear up now that’s she’s clean and can eat some quality food. We are looking to rehouse all of the cats so if you are seriously interested please let us know! It is imperative they go to a loving home so we may ask for further details about your living arrangements and interests. It’s important for us to know if you adopt this gorgeous girl, you know the commitment you’re taking on. If you can help with vet funds it would be more than appreciated, even the smallest donation will help, it means a lot to us and especially to Shelby!
