Help for Baby Mason!

Donation protected
Baby Mason was born in May 2017 with congenital bilateral cataracts (babies only have a 0.4% chance of being born with this).  With this diagnosis came the news of Mason requiring 2 surgeries within his first 6 weeks and another 2 to be scheduled by his second birthday.  Mason was a little champ though and handled the first 2 as best as can be expected.

After a couple weeks, he became irratable and it was noticed something didn't look quite right with his right eye.  He was then brought in on an emergency basis and was found to have developed Glaucoma (which was a 10% chance after cataract removal). Within the next week, he was scheduled for another surgery to insert a small tube in his right eye to drain and relieve pressure. Then a few weeks later, Mason had some cortex material floating in his pupil and again had to be taken in for another surgery, this time both his surgeons (Cataracts & Glaucoma) participated together to limit another surgery.

Throughout all of this, Mason has been an amazingly, happy little boy!! Most recently, he made another trip to the city and recieved a pair of loaner glasses to try  out! You can see in his picture how truly happy he was to be able to see for the first time!!

Of course, with all these surgeries, bi-weekly check ups,  2 hour trips to Edmonton, parking, food, ect... the costs are continuing to rise. Now added into that cost is a pair of $500 dollar baby glasses with lenses that require to be changed out at $400 every six months.  We all know how expensive it is to have a new born in  the home and one with medical issues can become very stressful financially.

My sister is one of the strongest ladies I know and would never reach out for help even though it could help relieve some of the stress and burden her and her family are facing daily.

My Christmas wish this year is for her to be able to enjoy her baby and family without having to worry about how to be able to afford Christmas, baby glasses, gas, and parking during the holidays and the coming year.  Baby Mason will have ongoing care, multiple surgeries, glasses, and appointments for years to come.  Let him be your little Christmas Baby and help him with the gift of sight!!
