Spunky's Visionary Journey

Dear family and friends, we never really thought we’d ever get to a place where we would have to publicly ask for help with one of our dogs. We pride ourselves on being very strong individuals who can take care of what needs to be done on our own for them, so we hope you’ll understand that this isn’t easy for us and that we’ve put off asking for help as long as we can. Those who know us, know our son and our animals are our everything. We work so hard so that they can have the life they deserve. Unfortunately, our sweet baby Spunky is in need of surgery, and with everything going on in the world right now, we are struggling to find the money to get her what she needs. Spunky is a 5 year old Yorkie who was rescued by a dear friend in Arkansas.  She has severe glaucoma in her right eye and a severe cataract in her left eye due to the neglect she endured.  It is unknown how long she has had these eye problems but the Veterinary Ophthalmologist says that the right eye with the glaucoma is causing her pain and needs to be removed as soon as possible.  She does think however the left eye with the cataract can be saved and that she may be able to get up to 90% of her vision back in that eye! For a dog that is only 5 years old, it would be wonderful to be able to save at least one of her eyes.  Unfortunately, we do not have the funds for this surgery and the cost for surgery for both eyes, medications, and follow up appointments for 4 months after surgery comes out to be around $5,000. If you would like to make a donation that is tax deductible to the rescue we have gotten Spunky from, please contact me for their information.  We would like to give Spunky the best shot possible at saving at least part of her eyesight.  Unfortunately, we do not have the funds at this time. We are already so in love with her and she truly lives up to her name! She is a spunky little thing that is totally fearless, diabetic-inducing in her sweetness, and very stubborn! All funds raised will go directly to the rescue, Ozzie's Legacy in Paragould, Arkansas or to Memphis Veterinary Specialists in Memphis, TN where her surgery will be performed by Dr. Jane Huey. We would be forever grateful for any amount that can be donated to her surgery fund and tax deductible donations can be made through the rescue!
