SPSC #422 Legacy Gift Donation

Tax deductible
The “See Ya Later Foundation” is a 501c3 non-profit that is based in McMinnville, Oregon and has an Auburn, WA chapter operated by an Auburn PD officer. He is assisted by a board of directors many of whom are involved in LE or retired from LE.

The foundation was started in 2001 when the Auburn Police officer’s cousin, Scott Banke died of cancer at the age of 12. They learned from Scott's experience that there were numerous charities that raised money for cancer research but there were little to none that raised money for family support. Many of the families struggle with the little things that we take for granted. A large number of families ask for things such as gas cards, food cards, Starbucks cards, clothing, school supplies and so much more. The best thing about SYL is that they meet families where they are at the time. Not every family needs the same thing, nor do they want the same thing. SYL provides a wide range of support from the basics to VIP experiences in downtown Seattle, and yard makeovers costing several thousands of dollars.

To date, SYL has helped over 60 families in the King and Pierce County area since 2010. They currently have 6 families waiting for assistance.

One of these families is the Coffman Family of Maple Valley, WA. Hunter is 3 years old and has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. He was scheduled to go to Germany for experimental treatment that is not allowed in the states, but that program was recently shuttered, leaving Hunter and his family without a treatment plan. Hunter's doctors are baffled and have no solutions for future treatment but will attempt to try chemotherapy again as a last resort. Hunter is a special boy with a heart for people. He loves to play and laugh and run around. His family has been devastated financially as mom, Laura, had to quit her job to take Hunter to all his appointments. His dad, Atom still works as much as he can and often finds odd jobs to help make ends meet. Needless to say, there is an older brother, Chase, who gets less and less attention and life has turned all the time and priority to Hunter. The Coffman family is in need of money to assist with some of those basic needs.

SPSC class #422 is pledged to help a total of three families through the SYL.  In addition to Hunter and his family, we hope to help out a Redmond, WA police officer with two small children who just lost his wife, and another family raising a profoundly autistic child who's  brother recently sustained a traumatic brain injury from a skateboard accident.
