Epiphany's Study Abroad to the UAE
Donation protected
Hello! I'm Epiphany Knedler, currently an MFA Student in Photography at East Carolina University. I'm in my first year of graduate school and I have the opportunity to study abroad this Spring semester. I'll be heading to the United Arab Emirates in March 2018 and I need to raise some money to get there.
This program is unique to ECU's School of Art and Design Program. ECU and the University of Sharjah have a memorandum of understanding, which gives their students special opportunities for education and cultural engagement. The program's leaders also used to live and work in the UAE as professors. We will get hands-on experience in studios and will create an exhibition of work during the study abroad tour.
While there, we will be visiting artist studios, universities, as well as many galleries and museums, including the new Louvre Abu Dhabi. As a photography student with an interest in politics and international relations, I am excited to learn about the cultural exchange and contemporary political situation.
I have had the opportunity to study with university groups in the past within the United States. These were both beneficial and educational, and highly influenced my work and path with my education and art. I am excited to have the opportunity to do something like this again!
Here is the estimated budget for the trip:
Flight - $950
Food - $300
Daily activities - $185
Travel and parking - $285
Hotel and accommodations - $900
Studio materials - $25
Incidental expenses for the university (health insurance, travel insurance, etc.) - $520
This is a wonderful educational opportunity and I hope you can help me make it happen!
