Spread The Latino Poetry Anthology to Community Libraries
Tax deductible
Pitch in to purchase a classroom set of 25 copies of Latino Poetry: The Library of American Anthology. For every classroom set we reach, NP will donate the books and a workshop to a community group or educator. It is currently difficult to donate books to school libraries, so we work with educators directly. We talk to them about how the books can help them serve their students and community.
We have several institutions in need including Lone Star Community college, The Bayland Community Center on the South West Side of Houston, and also community centers and Latino Art nonprofits.
Our goal is reach our first classroom set in time to give copies to the college and high school students who will share their own writing at the Houston launch of this powerful book. They are the next era of voices, just like some of the poets in the anthology were also once not published, and making their debut for the first time.
We will also include a visit from either the editor of the anthology Rigoberto Gonzalez, or some of the poets from the book.
