Hundreds of people living in care homes through lockdown were cheered up by kind-hearted penpals from Nationwide.

Many of those people living in the homes had to shield during lockdown meaning they did not see loved ones for months.

We have a team of 60 co-workers who have brought this scheme to life and we have to date written to 600 people.

We have been approached by a care home in Swindon to help purchase 5 tablets at a cost of £99 each to help connect residents with loved ones remotely, hold video consultations with medical professionals and to reduce unnecessary visits to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Any monies raised over the £500 will be used to support more homes with Christmas Cards or Tablets depending on funds available.
