Hi everyone!

This year marks the 4th year my family and I raise money for the residents and staff at Somerset Ridge Center. Somerset Ridge Center is a Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located in Somerset, MA.

In the last few years, we put on a Holiday show for the residents, with the help of some of the wonderful cast from the Newport Playhouse. This year we are hoping to provide stuffed animals or blankets for each resident, which will cost roughly $550. Anything we raise over that amount will go directly to the staff at Somerset Ridge. (Depending on the total donations…Gift baskets, gift cards, chocolate, etc).

These gifts mean more to the residents than we can all yet imagine. Just last Saturday, one woman was showing me the cat we all donated to her two years ago. She was giving it love, and experiencing moments of joy.

As many know, I also individually visit each and every resident, give them the gift alongside a heartfelt card. (My entire family actually has “card night” where we write meaningful and heartwarming messages for every resident). It is such a rewarding experience seeing their faces light up because they have a visitor bringing a small gift. We have conversations regarding the Holidays and their past. Keep in mind, some residents do not receive any visits.

As the holidays are approaching, I am once again hoping to continue the magic we have created in previous years, for all of the wonderful people at Somerset Ridge.
