Spotswood High School Weight Room

Spotswood High School needs your help!! Our weight room is in desperate need of an update and we’re seeking help from current students, families, alumni and community members.
 

More than a 1000 students, faculty, staff and visitors use the weight room annually. Although students have been used to going to “gym” since kindergarten, the weight room is their first exposure to a gym environment they will likely use throughout their adult lives. Our students need a modern, functional weight room to encourage healthy lifestyle adoptions throughout their whole lives. It is also home to Spotswood’s 32 athletic teams. Spotswood Athletics has a long history of success: this fall alone all of our teams progressed to regional tournaments. Nearly half the student body, 425 students, participate in sports at Spotswood High School. The rest of the student body uses the weight room as part of their health and physical education courses. By teaching students how to properly use this equipment for exercise and fitness, educators can help stem the tide of obesity that is plaguing the youth of America. 

 

Why do we need your help? The current equipment in the weight room has far exceeded its life expectancy.  The equipment is older than the students who are using it!

Current reductions in State funding and increasing pressure on local funds means the school’s budget cannot cover the expense to replace the equipment. Your help is needed to provided much needed dollars to allow the school to replace and modernize the equipment. That is why the Booster Club has taken on the ambitious task of raising the $50,000.00 needed to renovate the weight room and keep it open for our students.
