Sponsored Silence - Male Suicide - IMD2020

The 19th November is International Men's Day

 
This year EDAN Lincs are raising awareness of male suicide by organising a Sponsored Silence




Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 and accounts for three-quarters of the yearly suicide deaths.  Work pressure, relationship break down, separation from children, job loss, addiction, lack of close friendships, loneliness and being unable to open up and access vital services are all contributing factors to male suicide

To represent the difficulties men face voicing their concerns, feelings and accessing support services, staff of EDAN Lincs are aiming to complete a collective silence of 16 days - a total of 384hrs

You can also join us in our sponsored silence to help us raise vital funds.  We welcome individuals, schools, or a collective silence with your colleagues, friends or family.  Please contact the organiser for a registration form to be emailed to you

You can take part anytime between Saturday 14 November and Sunday 29 November

Alternatively if you are unable to get sponsors, but still want to take part, you can do your own period of silence and make a donation of your choice, or make a donation to sponsor the EDAN staff team

All money raised will be allocated to supporting male victims of domestic abuse.  This can help to pay for mental health support, covering the transport cost of fleeing an abusive relationship, purchasing clothes, shoes and male toiletries, and household items
