Patriot Service Dogs,Inc. (patriotservicedogs.org) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in north Florida since 2009 that provides highly trained Service Dogs to our veterans who have PTSD, mobility issues, disabilities or loss of a limb. At this time Patriot Service Dogs, Inc. is a 100% volunteer organization.
My name is Mike Appelbaum and this past year of involvement as a volunteer with Patriot Service Dogs, Inc. has been one of the most rewarding endeavors my wife. Sandra Jensen and I have ever undertaken. We work with amazing dogs that are being trained in a women's correctional facility in our area. They are trained full-time by very caring inmates in a special women's unit (W.O.O.F - Women Offering Obedience and Friendship) that was developed and is supported by Patriot Sevice Dogs,Inc. We mentor and work with these dogs in our normal every day environment to prepare them for their permanent veteran partner. Highly trained Service Dogs are life changing motivation for so many veterans who have given so much to our country. All of our work and the work of Patriot Service Dogs is volunteer, thus the need for sponsorship
Hawkeye is a fantastic golden retriever/lab-mix pup and is proving himself perfect for the Service Dog training he has already begun. All funding for his training, food and medical requirements will come from "sponsorship" to cover these costs. Although many pups are sponsored before beginning the program, Hawkeye is very special and was accepted into the program without first having sponsorship.
We have the satisfaction and joy of working with Hawkeye and reach out to all of you by offering the opportunity to be part of Hawkeye's life... and to help one of our wounded veterans who will become Hawkeye's permanent partner. You can become part of Hawkeye's sponsorship with any tax-deductible contribution to Patriot Service Dogs, Inc. and you will be able to keep track of Hawkeye's progress as he develops.
Our involvement has been life changing for us, but more importantly, it is life changing for the veteran who gets a part of his or her life back when they receive their new partner.
