Our beloved Lotus House is in urgent need of sponsorship!
Covid 19 has crippled many many businesses, we have seen very established services go under during the last year - we DON’T want to see this happen to Lotus House.
The kids that attend Lotus House come from some of the poorest families living in and around Opheakspea village, 60 kilometers from Siem Reap city (Cambodia). Lotus House has always believed in equal opportunities which is what these kids have NOT had until Lotus House opened 5 years ago. They employ extremely enthusiastic, well trained teachers who love their job! AND it’s the only English school in rural Siem Reap that offers more than learning the English language.
So many important issues such as women’s and girls health, Elderly care, social services, environmental and moral studies are organized there. It’s MUCH more than a school, and in so many ways it’s been a life line, a refuge and a safe place to come to.
Lotus House is officially recognized and registered with the Ministry of Interior, Cambodia. It was officially opened by the Deputy Governor of Siem Reap in August 2016.
Lotus House has grown two fold since opening - this means there are now approximately 300 students attending from kindergarten to year 12 that now require 6 teachers.
Lotus House plays an extremely important role in this community. Opportunities that students would not be offered are now within reach, they can now dream to have a career, to be what they want to be and the most important thing - an end to the cycle of family poverty that would otherwise keep going without the education, knowledge and the confidence to hope and pursue a better future that is offered at this school..
To keep Lotus House going a committed major sponsor or sponsors are needed.
Here’s the breakdown of expenses:
Teachers are paid $50 USD a month. They teach in the evenings six days a week. Now if that isn’t giving back to their community I don’t t know what is! They do wonderful work with the children and are trained to teach English in an innovative fun way. These teachers also have their day jobs!
To cover all 6 wages annually is $3,600 USD - monthly $300
Outgoings: Approximately $300 USD annually - monthly $50
