We are Megan & Brent and we're fundraising to adopt. We want this website and blog to be a place where you can be a part of our story. We will be posting information on fundraisers and shoots we will be doing to help fund the costs of our adoption. Along with all the updates from our journey on the blog.
OUR JOURNEY
Four years ago, we started trying to have a baby. However, we learned that it wouldn't be easy for us. Like many other couples out there, we struggled with infertility. Many doctors visits, and lots of frustration and tears came out of those first years trying to conceive. Then, in April of 2016, our lives quickly changed. Brent was diagnosed with leukemia and our perspectives shifted. We were so incredibly lucky to learn that Brent's form of leukemia was very treatable, and a year later he was in remission. When we started talking about babies again, we knew this time it was no longer important to us HOW we became parents. Adoption was something we always felt open to. And after we were told Brent was in remission, adoption became especially beautiful to us, and we knew it was our path. So that's where we are now.
A LITTLE ABOUT US
We met in high school and have been together for 15 years now. Five years ago we got married and it was the best day ever. Megan's a photographer here in San Diego. While Brent comes along on most of the weddings, he is also an awesome middle school teacher. He's been teaching kiddos for 8 years now and loves every second of it.
OUR WORDS ABOUT EACH OTHER
Brent is my best friend. He is the kindest soul I've ever known. While simultaneously the funniest person ever. He has a way of only seeing the good in people and making those he loves feel like the most important people in the world. His heart is huge and I'm constantly blown away by his ability to stay positive through adversity. I honestly think on a daily basis, how lucky I am to do life with him by my side. Brent is patient and kind and I know he will make the best dad.
Megan takes the cake in being my partner. She is always there for me in the ups and downs. She keeps me balanced, focused, happy and healthy in my soul. Not only is she the nicest person I have ever met but also the funnest traveling partner in life. We have already been through several life stages together (teenager, young adult, adult) and she is always there for me, encouraging and loving me. Megan is going to be an incredibly loving mother.
OUR THANKS
To be honest, we were apprehensive to share our story and ask for help. We know that people work hard for their money and the decision to reach out to our community was incredibly humbling. It was at the suggestion/loving nudge of our dear friends and family that we decided to share our journey and reach out to the community. And we want to, from the bottom of our hearts thank every single person who reads about our story, sends love, support, comes to shoots and helps us achieve our dreams of having the extreme honor and gift of bringing home a beautiful baby.
