Stories of Spiritual Life in San Francisco

Donation protected

Starting in January 2020, I'm embarking on a new creative project: an ongoing collection of interviews that document real, honest, unfiltered stories about people's relationship with church and faith in San Francisco.

Over the past several years, I've had countless conversations with people who have been deeply wounded and traumatized by churches. I have come to believe that if churches are ever to heal themselves and become what the world needs them to be—communities of hope for everyone—these stories must be heard. This project will make these stories available for all to hear and read online through a series of podcasts and written pieces that I hope will help churches all over San Francisco (and beyond) start reimagining what it means to be a church today and in the future.

And to do that, I need your support*.

This project is part of my work as Pastoral Resident at Old First Church, a historic, progressive community in San Francisco with a rich history of boldness in peace and justice movements. While their community will be compensating me for my time, I'm raising money for the resources to bring the project to life.

I need to raise $3000 for:
• Professional recording equipment
• A dedicated laptop
• Hard drives
• Website hosting
• Graphic design services
• Printed materials

Interviews will begin in January 2020 with new audio and written pieces published monthly. My goal is to have at least 20 stories gathered by May 2020.

I am so eager to dedicate my passion and energy to this work, not only because this project will begin to heal church wounds , but because it will also form the foundation for a new church that I hope to develop in San Francisco—a vibrant, creative community that can be an experience of tremendous unity and hope, no matter who you are or what you "believe."

I'd be incredibly grateful for your generous support in bringing this dream to life with a donation.*

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
