Spinal Surgery and Rehab

The night of 10/20/19, I suffered a sudden loss of use of my legs and body below the chest. I underwent emergency surgery to remove a tumor from my spine. I am partially paralyzed from the chest down. I have been in the hospital and/or rehab since surgery. I am currently in Cambridge Post Acute Care in Snellville GA. The tumor was cancer, and I will undergo cancer treatments after rehab.

Due to complications following my spinal surgery and rehab, I will not be able to return to work as early as expected. Combined with upcoming cancer treatments, this will result in a shortfall for rent and utilities for the next couple of months. Disability will not be enough alone (why I have continued to work in the first place). I have been informed I am $175 short of income (in the previous 12 months) to qualify for FMLA, so I will receive no income until I return to work. (even a 50% income from from FMLA could have prevented this). My rent is due the 5th of the month.

I am not on social media platforms, so please pass this on to anyone who might be able to help. I just need to get by, to keep my apartment until I can return home and work again. Many in the Science Fiction fandom community know me, and my involvement in the past 30 years. Please spread the word.
