#NoMore - Key to Safety

Donation protected
UPDATE: A month ago, this family of domestic violence survivors — a mom and two daughters (one disabled), two dogs and a cat — were HOMELESS, their money depleted from all they had to do to stay safe. Your donations, kindness and prayers secured them a SAFE rental, and they could not be more grateful.

Being homeless with three rescue animals and reliving a domestic violence nightmare was beyond terrifying.

Many of you offered rent-free safe housing, which touched their hearts more than words can say. But unfortunately, all the offers would have taken this family away from the medical care that the disabled daughter can not be away from. Just like the domestic violence horrors were a matter of life and death, so is the disabled daughter’s medical situation.

So the family (who wish to remain anonymous for their safety) used the original goal I set of $2000 (which we exceeded thanks to your heartfelt generosity!!) to secure a SAFE rental and to pay for food (for both humans and animals) as well as household items that were lost when they had to FLEE their former residence. The cost of securing safe housing (which included a big deposit) was $5000, so the original ask was only a fraction of what the family needed.

They are not using a single dollar on any luxury items (gone are the days of Starbucks lattes and frozen yogurt nights) but they are putting every single dollar to good use: to SAFELY REBUILD their lives. They are also slashing expenses with a soup/pancake/oatmeal diet.

You may have noticed that we recently doubled our original fundraising goal. The reason is to ensure that this family of animal lovers — who have devoted their lives to selflessly helping both shelter animals and women and children who have found themselves in horrifying domestic violence situations — STAY in their SAFE HOUSING.

Many of the disabled daughter’s expensive MEDICAL SUPPLIES were lost when they fled their previous home. Their savings are DEPLETED from all they had to do to stay safe. The family is able to slash food costs but the cost of medical equipment is fixed.

They are starting from ground zero and need a moment to breathe as they rebuild their lives together.

It would be devastating if they ended up on the streets all over again because of not being able to afford rent.

So let’s keep this campaign going and help this kind-hearted family get back on their feet!

We’re not asking anyone to donate anything they can’t give. Even $1 helps — and prayers and well-wishes are free. So is sharing this campaign. So if you can’t donate, please SHARE this campaign and please send this magnanimous family love.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you’re doing to help. It means the world to me — and to them.

*****

They’ve been battered and abused – and stayed together. They’ve been stalked and hunted by a hit man – and stayed together. They went into hiding and built a new life – and stayed together. The family – a mom and two daughters (one disabled), two dogs and a cat – believed their past was firmly behind them. They believed they were finally at peace.  They believed they were invincible. They devoted themselves to helping other women and children successfully escape violent homes and heal from the ravages of physical, emotional and sexual abuse. I know women they have helped, working countless hours without asking a dime. Now they are in trouble – homeless and desperately in need of new, SAFE housing. Please help me help these sweet, selfless souls.  They have found a place that will accept ALL members of their family, including their animals, but the deadline to get them safely into that home and off the streets is SHORT. They need your help SPEEDILY.  Please help in any way you can.  And PLEASE share this with your friends and social media connections. I believe in the power of just $1 if that is all you have. As a community many drops will turn into a powerful river of fresh water for them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
